These are the steps to encrypt a video file using Egnyte Web or Egnyte Connect.
Users can access Egnyte using the web interface.
How to Encrypt a Video File on Egnyte's Web Platform
Step 1: Right click on a video file. In the options, click on 'Secure with Anchor' (highlighted).
Step 2: (Geo-Fencing is available on request). You will be redirected to a new tab, where you can use Geo-Fencing as a protection to the file.
There are two options from here:
Select YES for Geolocation Context: Please watch this video to see how to add Geo-Fencing to a file.
Select NO for Geolocation Context: This will not add any Geo-Fencing to the file, but it will still encrypt the file and save it back to your Egnyte folder. Please watch this video to see what happens if select NO?
What happens after I select YES or NO in the above step?
Anchor securely encrypts your file in its servers and saves the encrypted file back to your Egnyte folder.
Step 3: Once encryption is done, you will receive the following message, letting you know your video is Anchored. Depending on your configuration, Anchored files may or may not be set up to have a ".da." If so, you will find the encrypted file with an extension called “.da” which signifies that it is an Anchor protected file.
Users with Egnyte Connect (Z drive) will have access to files on their endpoint machines. This will allow for native consumption of protected content.
